A year of new opportunities is about to begin. Happy Holidays from our team.

Well everyone, 2020 is almost behind us. Seems impossible to put this year into words. And truthfully, we all feel its visceral impact, so I’m not going to try. I will say when I think about this year and the unexpected twists, turns, challenges and heartache it brought us, it is humbling. It puts things in perspective for me.

It also makes me innately think of all that I am grateful for. I’m grateful for my health and the health of my family and friends. I’m grateful to have had an unparalleled amount of time at home with those who mean the most to me. I’m grateful to be employed and to have worked with people I call family for two decades. And I’m endlessly grateful we started this little blog 6 years ago.

Our goal, at the start of Front and Centered (F&C), was to form a community. What began with a few dozen subscribers has grown into a community of close to 700. In 2020, we felt that community’s impact and power more than ever. We were able to share our fears, observations and opportunities brought about by the unknown. Through it all, I personally connected with so many of you who were also reflecting and adapting the best you could.

Over the years, I have ended many posts asking you to “join the conversation.” That is all we are trying to do on this blog — start a conversation. The real power for me is the dialogue that occurs within the community outside of our regular posts. Some of the best conversations have been driven by the events of this year because it reminded us that we were not in it alone. For opening up to me and to each other, I want to say thank you.

I am an optimist. Those of you who have been part of the F&C community for a while know this. (I’ve even been told it can be annoying at times.) But I believe we will not only overcome 2020, we will thrive in a world that has forced us to embrace endless opportunities and a new way of living, working and relating. And that is a conversation I cannot wait to continue. I am not only hopeful for tomorrow, I am excited. And I’m appreciative that I will share it with all of you. It starts with a new day and a new year ahead of us.

Until then, I hope you will all take time for yourselves this holiday season. As with everything this year, I know it will look and feel different. But embrace the opportunity to slow down, relax, recharge and connect with those you love. The greatest lesson I’ve learned this year, is how very precious life can be.

Don’t let it pass you by. From my family to yours, I wish you a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to continuing our journey together in the new year.
